A Sustainable Re-Opening Must Be The Objective, says County Tipperary Chamber following announcement on end of Level Five Restrictions

County Tipperary Chamber welcomes this evening’s (27 November) announcement from Government regarding the end of Level Five Restrictions which will allow the reopening of parts of the economy from next Wednesday the 2 December.
Speaking after the announcement, Chamber CEO Michelle Aylward said, “This evening’s announcement from Government will be widely welcomed by our members.
The importance of the Christmas period for local economies cannot be understated. In the lead-up to this evening’s announcement our members have been strongly supporting shop local campaigns in their communities. We call on the wider community to work with us and be conscious of limiting social contacts throughout the Christmas period.
As we proceed towards a lower level of restrictions, we want to remind the wider business community to avoid complacency and continue to interpret the restrictions conservatively, ensuring that any unnecessary congregation is reduced. If staff can work from home, then that is the only place they should be working from.
Finally, as a network, we continue to have concerns about the medium-term strategy for ensuring that the re-opening of local economies is sustainable. The “sawtooth” scenario we previously warned about (involving a series of stop-go restrictions in response to virus transmission) is not a sensible approach to managing the economy.
That scenario leads to significant additional business costs associated with reopening and restocking. With limited capital reserves, and no appetite for new debt under ongoing uncertainty, many businesses will not be able to continue trading after a further round of closures in early 2021.
Most importantly Government must ensure that:
• Public health authorities are adequately resourced so that we can limit the consequences of future outbreaks.
• We implement an effective programme which tests, traces, and isolates new cases as they emerge in the community
• Early local interventions are used to quickly restrict future outbreaks, and
• We develop sufficient capacity within the health service to cope with increased demands on our critical care services”

In the presence of Mayor of Clonmel Borough District, Cllr Catherine Carey, Clonmel Healthcare, popular consumer health company, has announced the completion of the construction of a brand new 2 million euro warehouse facility in Clonmel.

The 1,800 square metre build, which officially opened its doors today, will see the consolidation of storage and distribution of pharmaceutical and specialised medical products supplied to pharmacists and medical professionals across Ireland.

The construction involved an extensive renovation and extension of Clonmel Healthcare’s existing facility. Previously, the warehouse capacity was a mere 300 pallets, yet was responsible for moving out  10 million packs of prescription drugs and over the counter products annually – one of the largest distribution of pharmaceutical products in Ireland.

With the opening of the new, larger facility, which is located on Waterford Road, Clonmel Healthcare expect to store 2,400 pallets of products at any one time which is ; a huge increase on last year, ensuring a much more efficient storage and distribution process.

Jim Hanlon, CEO Clonmel Healthcare said of the new warehouse, “The consumer demand for Clonmel Healthcare products has been steadily increasing year on year, so it was time we invested in the re-sizing of our facility, in addition to our sales office in Dublin, in order to meet increased increased customer demands.”

“With their HQ already based in Clonmel, we are thoroughly delighted to see yet an additional investment from Clonmel Healthcare who are committing themselves to our vibrant, commercial hub in a positive way,” commented Clonmel Borough Mayor, Cllr. Catherine Carey.

The construction and renovation was completed by builders Tom O’Brien Construction in Waterford and Morrissey Construction in Clonmel. Colm McCarthy of PFGI Engineering led the design and architecture. The entire process saw the investment of €2 million and took 10 months to complete.

The Bottleneck that stops Cashflow

Understanding the importance of cash flow is something that is not always considered. Business focuses on selling and invest heavily into this area and of course rightly so! No customers no business, but business owners on their endeavours to expand their organisations often forget that the cash has to flow from those lucrative sales.
Where cash stops flowing is in the often-overlooked Debtors ledger or Accounts receivable file. It bottlenecks in Days Beyond Terms waiting for action and becomes the bane of the sales person and the worry of the business owner.
How do you ask to be paid without upsetting the customer? The answer is simple don’t let the customer go beyond the payment terms you agreed but if they have start immediately on a collection process as everyday counts.
But what about the relationship, they won’t buy my services again if I look to get paid or send a debt letter? If the customer valued the service you provided would they delay payment to such an extent it puts your business in jeopardy. Business goes out of business because of business! You need to find out why they are not paying you and It’s usually one of the following three bullet points.
  • Can’t- they don’t have the financial bandwidth to pay you
  • Won’t- they are using the extended credit to pay a more preferential suppler or to service their own bank account.
  • Shouldn’t- they have queries or disputes and are not happy with service they have received.
So how do you get paid on time and grow your business whilst improving your
cash-flow?
At the Ward Group, we provide a unique professionally managed service to SME’s called Ledger Management Services {please see more detail below}.
It is an outsource credit control solution covering the domestic and international markets  at a fraction of the cost of employing a full-time credit controller/accounts personnel and in a short space of time it pays for itself. It is an always on service that “Gets you paid on Time”.
