Dónal from Anú Pictures, our friend here in the Questum building in Clonmel is glad to announce the upcoming broadcast of CAMINO BY SEA - An Epic 2500 km Modern Day Celtic Odyssey.
This 3-part series will be broadcast on TG4 over three Sundays at 8.30 pm in February and March (19/02, 26/02 & 05/03) with repeats on Monday evenings at 7.30pm plus on the TG4 player. Overview: For hundreds of years people sailed from Ireland to A Coruña in Northern Spain and walked the camino to Santiago de Compostela from there. This inspiring crew have done their own version of this historical voyage in a Naomhóg (a traditional Kerry curragh) that they built themselves. This Camino took place in three stages over three years: across the Irish Sea and the English Channel and all along the coasts of France and Northern Spain covering over 2,500 km to Santiago de Compostela. Pulling into coastal towns and villages en route, camping and cooking as they go, this eclectic crew forge many new friendships; surprising those they meet with a boat that seems to come straight out of the middle ages. Every community that they have connected with en route have opened their doors – and their hearts – to this crew, and the men have in exchange, inspired them with their courage, endurance, storytelling, music, poetry and song in a coming together of people in the most fundamental and ancient of ways. This intimate documentary charts the trials and tribulations of a voyage that comes with its own risks and dangers, and in the words of Danny Sheehy, took “sweat, blood and blisters to complete while deepening and renewing friendships, creativity and spirituality in the process”.
